Symptoms

Signs your AC needs repair

  • The system runs but the air is not cold, or the house never reaches the thermostat setting.
  • Weak or no airflow from the vents.
  • Ice on the indoor coil or the refrigerant lines, often from low airflow or low refrigerant.
  • The outdoor unit will not start, hums, or trips the breaker: usually a capacitor, contactor or compressor problem.
  • Water around the air handler or a tripped float switch from a clogged condensate drain.
  • Grinding, squealing or rattling from the blower or condenser fan.
  • The system short-cycles, or runs constantly on hot afternoons.
  • The thermostat is unresponsive, or the system ignores it.

FAQ

Questions about ac repair

The most common causes are a frozen evaporator coil, a refrigerant leak, a clogged condensate drain that tripped the float switch, a failed capacitor or contactor at the outdoor unit, or a blower or condenser fan motor problem. A dirty filter can cause several of these. We find the root cause before replacing parts.

Ice on the indoor coil or the copper lines means the coil is getting too cold, usually because airflow is restricted (dirty filter, failed blower, blocked return) or the refrigerant charge is low from a leak. Turn the system off to let it thaw and call for a diagnosis. Running it frozen can damage the compressor.

We find and repair the leak, then recharge to the correct level, on R-410A, R-22 and R-32 systems. Recharging without fixing the leak only buys a few weeks and wastes refrigerant.

$120 for a residential service call and $150 for a commercial service call and diagnostic. You get the findings and the repair cost before any work begins.
